Athletic Heat announces 3-man panel for Track ‘N’ Field Awards
Following the launch of our First Track and Field Awards last week, Athletic Heat has inaugurated a three-man panel who will oversee the voting process and ensure that it is free and fair. The panelists are also in-charge of reviewing the nominees in each category and ensuring that the athletes who are nominated deserve it.
Speaking on behalf of the media company, Ruth Usoro revealed that the panelists are all coaches and they were selected based on their credibility.
“We selected coaches to be panelists because we don’t want anyone especially athletes that weren’t selected to feel it was done by favoritism. We feel that setting up a panel to review the nomination list will create room for correction wherever necessary and to make sure the nominees were those who had outstanding performances in the last season.”
According to Usoro, the panel for Athletic Heat Track and Field Awards 2017 will be chaired by Mr Olu Sule, a Certified IAAF Level IV Coach, 5x Triple Jump Champion and a Senior Officer of the Nigerian Immigration Service.
Other members include: President Stadia Committee African Masters Athletics, Coach Uruemu Adu and Coach Ibrahim Abiodun.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Panel, Coach Olu Sule promised to work with members of the team and to take the awards to the next level.
“I appreciate God Almighty for the birth of this glorious event and I want to thank the organizers for the privilege bestow on me as the Chairman of the panel, I promise to work together with all the panel members to take the award to the next level.”
Coach Olu then called on all stakeholders in Nigeria Track and Field as well as all sports loving individuals, corporate organizations and the government to support Athletic Heat 1st Track and Field Awards in encouraging our Nations home based athletes for greater performance in their chosen events.
“Let us all strive together to make Athletic Heat Track & Field Awards a rewarding platform for hard work and excellence.” Coach Olu said.
Speaking on the list of nominees, Ms Usoro said the panelists have began work in earnest and they have concluded the list of nominees in each category and it will be out soon.
