Sunday Special I: Adu Uruemu express excitement over African Master Athletics appointment
LAGOS – Secretary of Nigerian Athletics Masters Adu Uruemu was on Thursday, 10th February 2017 appointed President of Stadia Committee by AFMAC.

According to the experienced Coach, he said he feels happy and honoured to be appointed.
“I feel so elated, happy and more responsible to do more for the growth of Masters Athletics in Nigeria and Africa.
“I feel honoured to be the President of the Stadia Committee alongside great men with passion for masters athletics.”
Mr Adu Uruemu is the Head Coach of Esteem Athletics Club Lagos. He alongside Youssou Diakate (Senegal), Tambo Lucien (Cameroun) and Aissa Heceni (Algeria) form the Technical Committee for African Masters Athletics Commission (AFMAC).
“Our duties is to select stadium for Masters competitions and make sure that the competitions are well and properly organised.
“It shows that we are respected as good athletes as well as organisers and leaders of people of like minds.
“It is a great responsibility bestowed on me in organizing Masters championships, all track and field events one after the other and making sure the equipments are up to standard for each category of masters competing.
“We make sure such competitions are held according to IAAF rules and regulations. I’m looking forward to work with them for the development and growth of Masters athletics in Africa.” He said.
Another Nigerian who is also on the AFMAC board is Mrs Gloria Obajimi who will serve as the President Women’s Representative for the third consecutive time.
Mr Uruemu competes in the sprints while Mrs Obajimi is a force to reckon with in the 400m and 800m.
Mr Uruemu first assignment would be at The Nigeria Masters Athletics Championships in May to be held in Lagos.
