I’d like to run the 4×4 to help Nigeria qualify for World Champs- Edose Ibadin
We have seen world class athletes run fast times in the 800m and equally post pretty quick times in the 400m.
Ahead of the All African Games which begins on 26th for Athletics National 800m Record holder , Edose Ibadin has volunteered to be in the 4x400m team to help Team Nigeria secure a spot at the IAAF World Champs. If this happens, it will be Nigeria’s first time to run the men’s 4*400m relay in a very long time.
Speaking to Athletic Heat in a chat, he stated his goal ahead of the ‘African Olympics’.
“My hope for the African Games is that I make the final and run fast there. Also I would like to run the 4×4 as well to help Nigeria quality for Doha in that event as well.”
He is quite confident that his impact in the 4x400m will make a difference bearing in mind he ran a Personal Best of 46.67s at the Potomac Valley High Performance T&F Championship in Landover, USA on July 20th.
Edose has consistently gone 1:46s in his last three meets and when asked what he can do differently to hit 1:45 again, he said,
“I am not 100% sure what I can do differently but I can’t let any big gaps form and I got to stay within myself and trust my fitness and abilities.”
On the 31st of May 2019, at the Music City Distance Carnival, Nashville, Tennessee, Edose hit the World Championship standard as he posted 1:45.60s to take the win. This will be his second appearance at the IAAF World Championship. He made his debut at the London edition in 2017.
To confirm whether or not he canl be in the team, he reached out to the Technical Director of AFN, Mr Sunday Adeleye and these were Edose’s words afterward their conversation .
“Looks like I’ll more than likely run the relay as well”
All the best Edose!
