Ese Brume threatens African Long Jump Record with 7.05m Personal Best

Ese Brume leaped a jaw dropping Personal Best of 7.05m at the Turkcell Turkiye Buyukler Samplyonasi competition in Turkey.

We were still trying to catch our breath from her amazing performance over the 100m yesterday where Brume who appears to be peaking at the right time of the season delivered at scintillating 11.41s to take the 100m win after recording a time of 11.50m in the semifinal.

Two weeks ago, she jumped a massive PB and Olympic Standard of 6.96m. Ese Brume’s new PB of 7.05m is the second farthest mark by an African behind Chioma Ajunwa’s 7.12m which she leaped at the 1996 Olympics and stands as the African Record. World Champs Silver medalist, Blessing Okagbare now ranks 3rd in Africa with her mark of 7.00m.

This season the Turkish student has been combining the sprints and jump. Though she has been selective with her meets but each time she competes, she makes a statement.

Ese ran a 200m Personal Best of 24.56s at the Turkish University Championships in May. She also won the Long Jump at the event with a mark of 6.76m.

While at the International Sprint & Relay, Turkey on July 24th, she ran 11.96s to win the 100m and leaped an Olympic standard with 6.96m
