Bashiru Abdullahi signs with University of Texas, San Antonio

African Junior 110m hurdles record holder. Bashiru Abdullahi has joined University of Texas, San Antonio for the rest of his collegiate career.

The 2019 Big West Men’s Track & Field Freshman of the Year has been added to the 2019-20 signing class! Abdullahi joins the Roadrunners after a strong 2019 season at California State University Northridge. While at CSUN, Bashiru won the 110-meter hurdles at the 2019 Big West Outdoor Championships with the second-fastest time in school history (13.80) and earned honorable mention All-America accolades with a 17th-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June in Austin, Texas. This made him the first Nigerian in recent years to qualify from the NCAA regionals.

He also competed in the 400m hurdles where he set a Personal Best of 53.61s.

During the indoor season at CSUN, he broke the school record in the 60m hurdles (7.75) at New Mexico’s Don Kirby Invitational. We recall Bashiru ran 13.58 in the 110m hurdles in the IAAF World Junior Championships in Poland in July, 2016 to set the African Junior Record.

We wish you the very best in your new school
