Speaking with the Coach of CMS on their victory. He said ‘In this type of competition, I know the strength and weaknesses of the participating schools and after discovering the athletes for the short distances(100m, 200m) I found out that my strength would not be there, why cant I look into the field events and other games. So the strategy was this, I told my boys to do whatever they could do in the field event and make sure they do their best because other schools that were coming, I found out my boys wont be able to match them in the short sprints and God did it the way I planned it.
His hope on next edition ‘By next year, I would have a stronger team. I would contend with any school in all events that would be done because I would prepare them ahead. This present relay quartet I have, its not that they are not good but those that came from other schools were better but I hope for the best’ said Mr Friday Akpojotor of CMS Grammar School.
The next edition of the school games would be hosted in Ansar-u-deen College.
